Dead Before Daylight is an Alternate Universe Urban Fantasy role play in a world where supernatural creatures and humans exist side by side – at least, some of them do. Creatures like witches, pixies and satyrs live and work as openly as any human. They commonly hold positions of power in government and are afforded every right and protection.

Other creatures are not so lucky. Those believed threats to humankind and other benign creatures are still persecuted and oppressed. Beings like vampires and werewolves are still forced to live largely in hiding, as they are not afforded the protections of law.

Such blacklisted creatures have created a haven for themselves in the small city of Dawnbreak; but their sanctuary is becoming increasingly threatened by the arrival of outsiders. In the meantime a menacing power is lurking in the forests and increasingly beginning to threaten the town as people begin to go missing, and mangled bodies are beginning to be discovered in and around the woodlands.

 Rock-a-Bye WTF are we having??
Riley laid back on the bed, closing her eyes. It was weird, being in the hospital so frequently for check ups and things. She didn't have a discernable reason for why hospitals made her so uncomfortable, but they did. The loud beeping of machinery, the coughing of the ill and dying, the screaming of people in pain...Exaggerated anxieties, of course, not based on any rational thought.

But in the room she was in now, with Mykola Dalco, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. They were checking on the baby, trying to get the sex, boring....predictable things. Riley grumbled as she tried to sit up a bit, shooting Myko a dry look. "Detka is as impatient as me to get out of here," she observed quietly, nodding to her stomach. "They're kicking."

She offered a small smile to Mykola. Things were okay for now between them- they'd had a brief fight back in October when it was time for Riley to be resting instead of working. It had been hard to give that up, for no other reason than Riley was just used to working through hard times. Scared? Breath through it, be ready for action. Shot? Fight death, walk it off or something. It was a strange balance of trying to be teammates but also living off old self-reliant habits.

It was hard. But things were good again. "I'm excited to start thinking of names," she observed after a moment, smiling a little broader.

Impending fatherhood was an odd sort of tag along. He was involved without really being involved. Riley was doing all of the work, and while he was there for her as much as he could be it didn't really seem to make a difference. Usually that didn't stand out so much, but with these hospital visits where he was stuck sitting by her bed... it felt painfully obvious. And weird.

He reached for her hand when she spoke, smiling faintly, "Have any in mind yet?" he asked.

Riley snorted at the question. "Not a damn clue, what about you?" She had a list of names that were on her no-fucking-way list. Names like Tyler, Henry, Robert, Josephine, Skylar, and Sara. "...You ever start thinking of names and realize how many fucking people have ruined a name for you?"

Mykola Dalco

"Yeah," Mykola snorted softly, "names in two languages."

Riley snorted at that. "Alrighty, so all 2 languaged names we'll skip over," she agreed with a grin. She opened her mouth to add a comment when the doctor walked in and started talking. It wasn't much longer that they were looking at a screen of Riley's stomach. She watched with mild interest and perked a bit when the question came, "Do you want to know the sex?"

Riley looked to Mykola Dalco, shrugging. "I do if you do?"

Mykola moved to stand beside Riley once the doctor had come in, watching the proceedings with quiet curiosity. He still couldn't really make out all that much from the ultra sound, relying mostly on the doctor to explain what everything was - even then it all just seemed like an ovular blob to him.

"I think waiting to be surprised is over rated in this case," he smiled, looking down at Riley, "so I vote we find out now."
